Early August Status Update

It's not yet August, but here's the plan for that month!
The books have arrived at the warehouse. (I'm waiting on my own copies, but I'll try to share pictures when I get them.)
We plan to start shipping shortly after GenCon (which is the second half of next week).
To get things ready for that, we are locking down orders and charging cards in BackerKit so folks have an opportunity to correct any errors in advance of the shipping effort starting. If any error is encountered, BackerKit will email you (so far it looks like only 6 of the charges on file have run into problems).
You still have a few days to update your addresses. We'll lock those in right on top of the ship-out starting.
If you are one of the 1284 backers who've responded and encountered no card charging problems, and don't need to update your address, awesome, and thank you! Sit tight. Your local resistance contact will be reaching out shortly.
Will do my best to remember to update again on the start of shipping, or by mid-August-ish, however it's going. Soon, soon!

Want Your Book and/or PDFs? Read This! (BackerKit Launch)

It's BackerKit launch day!
To the folks who've used BackerKit with other campaigns before: the BackerKit will launch later today, starting with a smoke test (5% of backers get invites to help kick the tires) and followed later in the day by full rollout.
To everyone else: The rest of this post is here to help you. Lots of words, yes, but I'm trying to head off questions at the pass here, so make sure to read all of them! I'll try to keep each part as brief as possible.
To both groups: Make sure to respond to your invite this week if at all possible, as we're on a tight timeframe between launch and our intended ship zone of earl-to-mid August.
What is BackerKit? Do I need to use it?
BackerKit is a pledge manager. It's a separate website that you'll use to fill out survey questions, provide address data for shipment, and receive the digital awards for this campaign.
As such, even if you're not getting a physical shipment, it's still important you connect to BackerKit so you can get the final PDF of Uprising as well as, eventually, the other digital rewards we currently have in development.
BackerKit will also give folks below the $20 tier a chance to upgrade to it (to receive all other digital rewards for the campaign, available to backers at $20 & up, as stated elsewhere on this project), as well as the ability to upgrade to a shipping tier if you have decided you want the book shipped to your USA-based address.
BackerKit will also give folks a chance to add other items from our catalog to their order if they're getting a physical shipment. At default, this is only other books, tho you can upgrade to the "Enhanced Casing" level — which increases the flat shipping charge from $6 to $12, I believe — in order to add things like dice and board and card games to your order. (Adding those means your shipment stops being Media Mail friendly, hence the increase in shipping in that scenario.)
How do I get access to BackerKit?
You'll be getting an invite email at the email address you use on your Kickstarter account. (If that's not your primary email address/inbox, make sure to take the time to check.)
If that invite email doesn't show up for whatever reason (some email services can be a little too aggressive with their "spam" catching), you should be able to get another email attempt sent in at https://uprising-rpg.backerkit.com/ once we've gone live.
How do I upgrade my reward tier?
On the very first page you get to after connecting through your invite, there will be a teensy tiny text link that you can click on to upgrade to other tiers.

I missed the campaign, can I still preorder the book?
This doesn't include the digital extras from the campaign. Getting those for free was an exclusive to Kickstarter backers. They will be available for-pay, once they're complete, on our site and DriveThruRPG.
How do I add on other items, additional copies of the book, etc?
After you log in to BackerKit, you'll be asked a couple questions (the survey part). Once you've gotten past that part, you'll be presented with something that looks like a store. You can add stuff that's not already included in your reward tier to your cart and pay for it at that point.
How do I provide my shipping information?
Once you click past the add-ons section, you'll be presented with an opportunity to enter your shipping information (if your reward tier needs shipping information). Make sure to click all the way through and confirm the results.
If you haven't clicked a button that reads Place My Order then the process is not done and you won't be recorded as a completed response. Only completed responses will get their shipments. So make sure to follow the process through to its confirmed conclusion!
I'm going to move during August...
Bad time for us to be shipping you anything, then. Once your new address stabilizes, respond to the BackerKit then. Alternatively, look at having your shipment go to your work address, or a family member or friend who won't be moving during that timeframe.
I don't see an item I wanted to include with my book order, can it be added?
First off, if it's not a book, make sure you've upgraded to the Enhanced Casing tier that allows for non-book items. If you still don't see what you're looking for on the add-ons screen, please reach out to us by email at [email protected] and we'll see if we can accommodate you, assuming we expect to have it in stock at time of shipment.
It's important to note, we can only offer items from the Evil Hat catalog. If you're looking to pick up one of Indie Boards & Cards' games, you'll need to get those some other way.
My kickstarter pledge failed, can I correct it using BackerKit?
You should be able to — but if Kickstarter removed you in a way that BackerKit wasn't able to spot, we'll need to manually add you back into the backer list. Contact us at [email protected] and we'll work with you to get it sorted out.

We have failed! Oh noes! But you should tell us. We like answering questions. [email protected] is the way to go, tho you can also contact us via direct message here on the Kickstarter website.
You can ask your question here in the comments, too, tho if it is your-order-specific, comments aren't the best venue for something that might require us to do a lot of back and forth, ask for private details like your shipping address, etc. Hence the recommendation to use direct message or email!

A Brief Heads-Up & July Status

This coming Monday (July 9th) we will begin rolling out the Uprising RPG BackerKit (pledge configurer & shipping information manager) for this project. We'll post another update then with guidance and instructions.
Please keep an eye out on Monday for the update! Our intent is to begin the shipping effort by mid August (if not earlier), assuming all goes well with the print job currently underway. Quick responses will help make sure we get this all done at the best possible speed. :)
People looking to upgrade their pledge to a shipping tier (or their $1 pledge to the $20 all-the-extras level) will have an opportunity to do that through BackerKit as well.
You'll also have the opportunity to purchase add-ons through BackerKit.
BackerKit will also be the platform we use to get the final PDF to those of you who backed at $20 & up.

Development on the additional digital material from the stretches has begun, tho we're still in the preliminary stages there (concepting, outlining, etc). It'll be a while before they're done, of course, but they remain an active effort here at the Hat.

Brief June Status Update

Hello all! Super quick update for you, as we don't want to let you get any later into June without an update on this project's status. Here are the facts.
We got in the physical proof, but a number of images were printing too dark to see some of the subtle-dark-shades-differences in the images. As Paris Nouveau is a setting full of shadows, getting printing fidelity on those images is important!
We revised those images, lightening them just enough to get the darker shades to show up, and had the printer re-proof the whole thing.
The re-proofs arrived not long before Origins (which we just got back from), and looked good! So we've green-lit manufacture.
Manufacture is expected to conclude in late July, putting the shippables at our fulfillment partner's warehouse by early August.
This likely means we'll be firing up BackerKit in or before early July to collect your addresses, take additional preorders, and provide opportunity for digital backers to upgrade to physical USA shipments.
This makes it likely that the first round of shipments (for folks who are prompt in filling out BackerKit when it fires off) will happen in early to mid August. That's four months early. La victoire!
Once we have BackerKit spun up we'll also be able to distribute the final PDF (and, eventually, when they're done, the stretch goals) through that system.

We are doing the happy dance at Evil Hat Central. (Well, honestly, it’s the happy flail. As a company, epic dance moves aren’t our specialty.) Thanks to all of you, we’ve got Uprising on the way, plus 29,000 words worth of additional electronic content, plus the POD secrets deck coupon, plus an Evil Hat prize pack full of electronic goodies.
That’s a lot of plusses.
And a lot of flailing. We’re all kind of like Kermit over here, only a little less green.

Because really, it’s not easy being green. And green revolutionaries wouldn’t be a good idea, because then you could easily spot them. Unless they were in a jungle…

I kid. Of course you’re right. Although really, I’m going to chalk the rambling up to the Kickstarter effect. By the end of one of these, we’re all a little rambly over here. And flaily. (I’m sorry. I couldn’t resist.)
But of course you want to know what’s next! HERE’S WHAT’S NEXT.
Nextly, we will finish up the remaining art and get this puppy off to the printers. You may have noticed that we have December as our delivery date for the book. We wanted to give ourselves the maximum amount of time to make sure we got the book finished up with art and other polishes, plus we want to give Indie Boards & Cards a chance to sign off on its final form. Publishing being the way it is, we weren't sure exactly what the timeframe on that would be, so it was an intentional overestimation. We wanted to be absolutely sure that we could deliver the book on time. It's a matter of pride. Flaily pride.
So we’ll be delivering the print books before that December date. We don’t know exactly when that is yet, and we do our best not to make promises we can’t keep, so for now, we’re going to say that printed books will ship before December, and as soon as we have a better grip on the definition of “before,” we’ll let you know.
And don’t be alarmed if there’s a bit of a lull before we send out the BackerKit. We won’t send it until we’re closer to shipping so we don’t end up shipping your new games to your old address. Scheduling those as close as possible has helped to keep those address change problems to a minimum, so we’re going to keep doing it.
Now we’re flailing too! What about the stretch goals?
Now that the campaigning part of the Kickstarter is done, we know all of the stretches that have funded, and can begin our work on them. Our team will assemble and work out a schedule for those, and we'll be keeping you informed about the progress on those as that effort rolls forward over the course of next year, hopefully with some sneak peeks as it all comes together!
Remember that the stretches—along with the POD secrets coupon and the Evil Hat prize pack—will come to backers who contributed $20 or more. The current plan is to use BackerKit to get those things out to everyone who pledged for them, so that’s another reason to make sure you hit that BackerKit invite when it comes out. Don’t worry; we’ll post about it here too!
